This description has no pictorial. Only the recipe is included. I shall be including the pictures if and when I find time to try it out the next time. This was my first attempt at it and I didn't have the faintest idea that I would get it right.(I couldn't believe for hours after the lovely donuts were ready that I had actually made them) So I didn't bother to capture the steps. I'm sure the description should be able to get you the same end product that I had. Three of my friends who did that got delicious results. I'm going to describe here more elaborately than the quick instruction I had given them via text messages.

Ingredients:

All purpose flour : 1 cup

salt : 1/4 tsp

milk : 1/4 cup

dry yeast : 1/4 tsp

sugar : 5 tsp

butter : 3 tsp

egg : 1

oil : for frying

Preparation:

1. Sift flour and salt.Keep aside

2.In a bowl take warm milk. To it add yeast, sugar, butter, a small egg and whisk till they combine.

3. Next, combine the wet and dry ingredients in a bowl. It might be quite sticky. Bring it together using a spatula . Use a spoonful more of flour if you cannot manage the sticky dough. Grease or dust a working top and transfer the dough onto it. Knead it well for a good 10 mins. Use the heels of your palm to press it down and knead it back.

4. Drop a spoon of oil into the bowl. Put the dough back into the bowl. Roll it in the oil so that the dough is all soft and coated with oil. Cover and set it aside till

it rises to double its size. This could take you almost half an hour or more.

5. Once the dough is risen, with your hands, softly punch down the dough and it will get back to its regular size.

6. Knead it again and divide the dough into 2. Place one part on the dusted work top , roll it out evenly to 1/4 -1/2 inch thickness.

7.Make donuts using a donut cutter or cookie cutter/lids of 2 sizes, one for the donut and a smaller one for the donut hole. Repeat with the other half of the dough ; repeat with the extra sides that you get after the donuts are cut. You just need to bring them together and knead again and they will be ready to roll out again.

8.Keep a tray dusted with flour ready; arrange the donuts on the tray. Cover and set aside till they again rise to double the size. This should again take you up to another 30 minutes.

9. In a frying pan, heat around 2 cups of oil. Carefully drop 2-3 donuts and fry them on both sides on medium heat- look for the oil bubbling around the donuts all through. That is the right temperature. They do not need much frying time and will be ready quickly. Serve them plain or coat them in sugar/ powdered sugar and cinnamon or glaze them with chocolate glaze or a topping of your choice.

These are some mini donuts I made with the last bit of dough left. Aren't they cute?

Go, try making some of these melt in the mouth delicacy and be surprised 👩‍🍳
