Let's give a healthy nudge to our traditional desserts this festive season #healthytwist3

That one sweet which almost anyone in my circle with a sweet tooth is crazy about is undoubtedly motichoor ladoos.😋I'm no exception to it. I can have as many as I am served. No, may be not as many as Chota Bheem😀 but still. Of late, I have been trying to restrict myself and not enjoy them the way I used to before, lest I put on further. Then, I came across this magic recipe. It sounded impossible. Nevertheless, I gave it a shot. The result was beyond my wildest imagination. Sharing that leap of faith with you all .😊

So, what's about these ladoos being a healthier version? You don't deep fry the boondis the traditional way. You steam-cook the ingredients.

You definitely have to taste it to believe it.

Ingredients:

bengal gram : 1 cup

ghee : 3 tbsp

brown sugar :½ cup

water : ½ cup

rose water : 2 tsp

😊😊😊😊😊

Cooking Time : 12 minutes

Preparation Time : 20 minutes

Course : dessert

Makes : 20 balls

Recipe:

1. Wash and soak the bengal gram for 5-6 hrs

2. Strain the excess water

3. Coarsely grind the lentils preferably on pulse mode without adding any water.

You should have 1.5 cups or more after grinding. If you have more, you may measure and use 1.5 cups.

4. Get a steamer ready. Grease the mould/plate and transfer the coarsely ground lentils on to the greased plate/mould and steam cook for 6-7 minutes.

5. Use a fork and prick the steamed lentils so that you get the cakes crushed into coarse granules.

6. In a pan add ghee and fry the granules for 5 mins.

7. In another pan, make a single string consistency sugar syrup.

8. Add some saffron colour.

9. Add the fried lentil granules.

10. Cook till all the sugar is absorbed by the lentils.

11. Turn off the flame. Add rose water and give it a good mix.

12. Transfer it into a bowl.

13. Grease your palms. Take a lemon sized portion and make ladoos with gentle hand while the mixture is still warm.

14. Make all the ladoos before the mixture turn cold.

15. Serve plain or garnished with some chopped dry fruits.

Trust me ! It tastes as good as a the traditional ladoos. You need to taste it to believe it. I didn't believe it myself when I came across the original recipe on fitnfastrecipes.

You may increase or decrease the quantity of sugar as per your preference. You may as well add an extra spoon of ghee when you fry.

Happy cooking! 👩‍🍳🍽👨‍🍳
